FREE SPECIAL EDUCATION WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS

October 16th, 2025 10:00AM to 12:00PM EDT New York Lawyers for the Public Interest warmly invites you to attend this free 2-hour workshop that provides the tools and is meant to empower you every step of the way when navigating the special education system.

This event will be presented in English and requires registration. TOPICS COVERED + MORE: SPECIAL EDUCATION BASICS Rights and procedures, including but not limited to least restrictive environment, IEP meetings, the specific programs and services that are available to meet your children’s needs. ABUSE, HARASSMENT, OR MISTREATMENT How to advocate for your child who has experience any of the above and your parental rights to information, how to file a complaint, etc. LANGUAGE ACCESS Parental rights to language interpretation at school meetings and to translated educational documents so that you can participate in your child’s education.
